At least three mayors in Lanao Del Sur are being identified by police intelligence who are allegely involved in the illegal drug trade have been asked to surrender or risk being killed.

Police Director Chief Supt. Agripino Javier of Muslim Mindanao, said the mayors are considered “drug lords or illegal drug protectors, however, he did not disclose their identities.

Some private individuals have raised P100,000 bounty for the arrest and neutralization of each mayor.
“The reward did not come from the PNP but from individuals who wanted the drug lord mayors neutralized,” he said.

Javier refused to say if there was a shoot to kill order. "If these mayors resist, of course the police know what to do, I expect these drug lords to have heavily armed followers."

Meanwhile, a town mayor in Maguindanao yesterday voluntarily showed up to the police regional office to clear his name following reports that he was into illegal drug trade.

Mayor Rasul Sangki denied the accusation of being involved in illegal drug trade during a closed-door meeting with Javier.

“I strongly deny that I am a drug lord,” Sangki said as he emerged from the office of the police director. He said he is willing to personally appear and submit himself to PNP chief Gen. Roland Dela Rosa for an investigation.
