Senator. Cayetano Defends Duterte Admin's War on Drugs - CNN International
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday evening defended the current administration’s fight against criminality and drugs anew.

In his interview with CNN’s Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour, he was asked about his comments to critics ( U.S. government and the United Nations), which have expressed their concerns, particularly over reports of alleged extrajudicial killings.

"There is a very big, big problem in the Philippines which is the drug situation. Families don’t feel safe…We have three to seven million Filipinos who are hooked on drugs, three million who are addicted to it," Cayetano said. "Something has to be done and our President has started to do something about it."

"What do we tell the critics? Please come here, don't just read the reports because there are people out to discredit him (President Duterte), Cayetano said.

According to Cayetano, there are people who are using extrajaducial killing, summary killing, vigillante killings very loosely, adding that Duterte administration values the sanctity of life, noting Filipinos are very religious people.

Cayetano explained that Duterte is just trying to apply, citing Singapore’s method of letting people love and fear the law. He said he is hopeful that the government’s move to instill in the people the love and fear of the law would work.
