LOOK: Duterte to HR Activists: Drug Addicts not Human Anymore
Lashing out at human rights activists critical of his campaign against drugs, President Rodrigo Duterte told them to reorient themselves and apply human rights to those killed or victimized by drug addicts.

“These human rights advocates did not count those who were killed before I became President. The children who were raped and mutilated by drug users,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted him as saying.

Duterte, who is also accused of committing crimes against humanity for the spate of drug-related killings, asked his detractors if drug addicts can still be considered human beings.

“That’s why I said, ‘What crime against humanity?’ In the first place, I’d like to be frank with you, are these drug users humans? What is your definition of a human being? Tell me,” he stressed.

The president has repeatedly emphasized the destructive properties of shabu which he said turned its dependents into zombies.

“You must remember that those who are already using shabu for almost one year, they are dead. They are the living walking dead. “They are of no use to society anymore,” he said.

In a meeting with businessmen, Duterte said shabu can destroy the brain and affect future generations if he doesn’t do something drastic.

“Remember that shabu, constant use of shabu, even for six months to one year, will cause the shrinkage of the human brain. That’s why young addicts answer back their parents. And if they think that way, how can they function as fathers? So you’re looking at the breakup of families. When couples split, there’s no more direction in the family. And to think that that would be the generation coming after us,” he said.
