PNP's Highway Patrol Group member Police Officer 3 Jeremiah de Villa suspect over motorcyclist killing of John Dela Riarte, died after jumping from a building in the Philippine National Police's headquarters in Camp Crame on Saturday.

De Villa was facing murder, robbery and administrative charges for the death of John dela Riarte.

HPG director Senior Superintendent Antonio Gardiola confirmed the incident based on their initial investigation that there were no signs of foul play and that the policeman seemed to be not in his psychological state.

"We have witnesses na it was a suicide from the time he took a walk from HPG building to the other building," he said.

"Malayo parati ang iniisip, wala sa sarili," Gardiola added.

He further explained that de Villa became depressed because of the recent death of his mother and his involvement in killing.

"Naapektuhan iyong mother n'ya, namatay din sa stress dahil sa pangyayari," referring to De Villa's involvement in the killing of Dela Riarte.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa believes that "too much pressure" could have prompted De Villa to commit suicide.

"Siguro sa tindi ng pressure ng bata, kaya naawa ako. Siguro hindi niya matanggap na kasams siya sa pagdagdag ng problema, hindi na niya kinayanan... Ako ay naaawa talaga," Dela Rosa said.
