Many have questioned Duterte's capability in,handling the country's economy. He was criticized for focusing too much on eradicating crime during,the elections, while having no particular economic plans and agenda.

However, reports have shown that the economy is,currently booming as Duterte assumed post. He is now lauded by the business community. Although,credit has been given to former President Ninoy Aquino III, the new administration's focus on infrastructure made,the executives optimistic that the economic boost will continue.

Antonio Moncupa Jr., president and CEO of East-West Banking Corp, one of the top 10 lenders in the country said: "We are in a very good spot. The pronouncement of government prioritizing infrastructure spending, accelerating it and cutting red tape, solving peace and order, I think all point to very good prospects ahead."

Meanwhile, the country reached its highest,economic growth in three years, in 7% in the second quarter. This made the Philippines,the fastest growing among all countries.
