The Former Justice Undersecretary Francisco Baraan III can be a witness against Senator Leila De Lima, since he supervised the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) when De Lima was still managing the department.

According to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, there are BuCor chiefs who are allegedly benefited from drug money to those high-value inmates and he confirmed that they already have the goods from former BuCor directors.

Aguirre immediately defends Baraan and said among the DOJ officials he is not involved and will not be investigated.

In fact, some of the DOJ officials allowed the NBP to reduce the daily budget meal from Php50.00 to Php40.00 to be able to pocket the remaining Php240,000.00 as their “savings”

De Lima’s Defense

According to Aguirre, the defense of Sen. Leila De Lima is too premature thus, it can’t be just the driver alone collecting the drug money, there are people behind the illegal drug trades.

Senator De Lima’s defense is too premature. She should wait for the evidence, you cannot say that the evidence is fabricated unless it is presented, we are awaiting any order.
We already got information from several resource persons. It can’t be just the driver collecting by himself. He doesn’t have the power to do so.
