Duterte is my Idol, De Lima is my friend – Koko Pimentel

Senate President Koko Pimentel found himself in the middle of crossfire between two “friends” President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Leila De Lima.
Pimentel admitted on Wednesday that he gets worried whenever a fellow senator is involved in a controversy.

“Actually, lahat ng senador kaibigan ko. Kung mayroong issue involving a senator, concerned din ako,” he said.

He however was quick to clarify that he was not siding with anyone noting that he was also a staunch supporter of the President.

“Ang Presidente kasi hindi lang sa kaibigan ko, idol ko pa siya. Sinuportahan ko siya, isa kami sa nagkumbinse sa kanyang tumakbo at kapartido ko pa siya,” he said.

“Ang samahan po namin ay ideology or agenda-based at kailangan suportahan ko po ang Presidente na maging matagumpay kasi tagumpay din po ito ng aming partido,” he added.

Pimentel said he has yet to speak with other senators whether they were affected by De Lima’s predicament noting that he has to focus on other pressing issues like the impending postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

He added that De Lima never asked for his help on the matter.
