VP Leni Robredo on Tuesday revolted against the,proposition to further lower the time of criminal obligation from 15 years of age to nine.

Robredo said she finds that the,present set-up in the law is sufficient.

"Ako, kontra ako doon," she told journalists. "Isa ako doon sa mga sumulong ng Juvenile Justice Law and I think 'yung criminal,obligation under the law is adequate."

She included: "Kokontra ako kapag merong moves na babaan ito."

The Vice President made the comments the,day after the opening of the seventeenth Congress, after new House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez approached,the entry of three top need measures including the bringing down,of age for criminal obligation.

Alvarez, alongside Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro, documented House Bill 002, which looks to bring back the base period of criminal obligation to nine years of age, as an obstruction to the utilization of youth in carrying out wrongdoings.


The legislators trust kids this age and up are "as of now completely educated" given their entrance to data through innovation.

The Vice President said the measure is,disturbing, particularly when combined with the conceivable return of capital punishment—something that President Rodrigo Duterte is upholding.
