Remembering the aggressive campaign mantra of President Rodrigo Duterte to eradicate crimes and illegal drugs, USA Today reports that he is doing good with his promise of killing 100,000 criminals.
Quoting from what USA,Today wrote, it says "he has left a bloody trail of drug world executions that is drawing alarm from human rights,groups and opposition politicians.”
According to data, from 72 alleged drug,dealers killed on the exact day of President Rodrigo Duterte's Inauguration, it has now gone up to 119. Vigilante killings,has also became quite bothering as 9 people have been killed as police,reported in which some of them has cardboards hung on their neck with statements like "Snatcher ako" or "Drug Pusher ako, wag tularan"
Aside from the immensely dismayed,Commission on Human Rights leg of the country, it has also caught the attention of the International Rights groups.
In a statement by Phelim Kine, the group's Adia deputy,director, he said "The killings has,also drawn the attention of the International rights groups “Human Rights Watch is concerned that,President Duterte’s electoral platform, which included repeated promises to kill those deemed,to be criminals and drug dealers, may be interpreted by some as a legitimization of the unlawful,concept of extrajudicial killings as an acceptable approach to crime control. Not only does each,case need to be investigated, but it’s crucial there be an inquiry into the surge in killings,since June 30 and action taken to put an end to it.”
Human rights lawyer and,national chairman of the Free Legal Assistance Group statements were also highlighted in the,article by the USA Today saying "Do we really want to give the man with the gun the power to judge,who are criminals and to kill them? To decide who is bad and who is good, who deserves to,live and who deserves to die?”
