Chinese state television claimed that the bananas were,substandard as results of excessive pesticide. Two batches of the cargo apparently,had pests in them. The pests were known to be Dysmicoccus Neobrevipes (Beardsley). Chinese destroyed,the bananas for precautionary measure, in order to protect their fruits and,vegetables from possibilities of bug spread.
Herminio Coloma Jr, the Philippine Palace,Communications Secretary have spoken in regards the issue claiming that "the reported quantity is,too small." He also emphasized that the DTI strictly undergoes sanitary and phytosanitary,inspection set by the World Trade Organization.
