VIGAN CITY – A 50-year-old security guard is facing parricide charges after he was arrested for allegedly killing his bedridden father inside their home last Thursday.

Nabbed was Nestor Yadao of Sinait, Ilocos Sur after family members and neighbors positively identified him as the assailant of his father, 85-year-old Elpido Yadao.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after suffering numerous injuries to the head and body.

Chief Inspector Reynaldo Mendoza, head of the Sinait police, said his men had recovered three large rocks which were likely used by the younger Yadao to beat his father to death.

“Mayroon silang narecover na mga bato doon, medyo malalaki, baka iyon ang ginamit niya na pampukpok sa kanyang ama,” he told GMA News.

[They’ve recovered rocks there, they were sort of large, maybe they were the ones he used to beat his father.]

Mendoza added that neighbors told the authorities how Yadao, who had returned back home from his job in Manila to attend a wake in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, may have snapped as his father supposedly mistreated him when he was younger. He added they were initially afraid to report the incident to the police.

“Sabi ng mga witness natin na mga kamag-anak at kapitbahay nila, nagpapatulong itong matanda noon sa kapitbahay niya. Pero takot naman itong mga kapitbahay niya na pumunta dito sa station,” he said.

[The family members and neighbors who were witnesses said the father called them for help. But the neighbors were afraid to go the station.]

For his part, Yadao denied killing his father and his neighbors’ allegations that he bore a grudge against the latter.
