Marawi City in Lanao in Lanao Del Sur is currently under siege after the government forces tried to retrieve the said city against the ISIS ally Maute Group.

On may 23, a gun battle between the Maute group and AFP started when the terrorist group occupied Amai Pakpak Medical Center where many patients were allegedly held as hostages by the terrorist group.

According to the latest statement of AFP, armed men were still occupied the buildings, hospitals and schools to protect themselves from the government forces who determined to finish all of them.

“We strongly urge the residents in these areas to remain calm and stay in their homes or evacuate to safer areas if they still can. We also appeal to all our citizens to continue to provide information on enemy location and their movements so we can swiftly conclude this important security operation,” General Restituto Padilla, AFP Spokesman said in the statement.

Meanwhile, netizens who still trapped in Marawi City gave updates about their current situation in the occupied city.

According to them, gunfire was heard every where and many buildings were already burned by the terrorist group. No firetrucks were allowed to enter the city because the terrorist group guarded all the road to the city.



There are also reports that Dansalan College, a Christian school and Marawi City Jail was burned by the terrorist group.
