After the much-talked about alternate fearless,forecasts of former matinee idol Baron Geisler and indie actor, their bout finally happened,yesterday, June 25, 2016. It can be recalled that both Geisler and Matos agreed to settle their differences,inside the ring after being invited by the URCC founder, Alvin Aguilar. The exhibition match happened,at the Valkyrie Club in Bonifacio Global City. It was packed of regular fans of the sport and,curious onlookers on how the fight would turn out.
Much to their disappointment, the fight,wasn't as hyped as many anticipated. They were both worn out when round 2 has,started. And the results? Unanimous Draw.
However, despite the disappointing,turnout, some still found it entertaining. They were able to inflict some damage to each other, although not,serious ones. On round 1, Matos was able to get ahead Baron and was able to mount while grinding,him with punches. But Baron was able to sustain with the punches. In the 2nd round, Geisler seeked to get,even and pinned Matos to the cage. But since both of them weren't professional in the sport, they,weren't able to land decisive blows, ergo the scorecards.
“Nung una eh what I did is to survive the round,” said Geisler referring to,the beatdown he had in the first round. “I respect Matos. I think masyado lang akong,naging kampante.But my team is proud of me because I only trained for five days.” Geisler said after the,fight. He added that if he would be given a chance to fight again, he would train for,months. Quoting from his interview, "I just took the challenge. I don’t pick fights and I,never back down. I still feel I’m the winner here. We’re both are, but I feel nachallenge ko ang sarili ko,” he said. “Magiging humble,na ko lag labas ko.”
Meanwhile, when Matos was asked about,Geisler, he said "Wala na kong galit kay Baron. ‘Yung mga asaran namin, asaran lang ‘yun… Wala nang,dapat pag-awayan, OK na po ako kay Baron Geisler. Hindi ko naman habol ang manalo, ayaw,ko lang matalo. OK lang ang draw.”
On the other hand, Geisler congratulated,Matos and said "Wala na, wala nang pride. Tanggal na ‘yung yabang. I believe we both respect each other,as actors and human beings. Congratulations, Kiko.”
Matos accepted the congratulatory and said “’Yung niyakap,ko siya sa ring, sa ‘kin po totoo po yon. Totoo rin ‘yung yakap ni Baron. Ang sabi,ko mahal ko siya, wala nang bigwasan.”
Matos also clarified the pee spraying,during the weigh in, saying that it was beer.
