MANILA, Philippines – Even as the warrant,for her arrest has yet to be served, Sen. Leila de Lima promised to surrender herself peacefully to the,authorities tomorrow when they effect the arrest.
Since the arrest warrant will most likely be,served during office hours tomorrow and not tonight, De Lima said she would go home to her family,for now to spend time with them.
“So uuwi po ako ngayong gabi at babalik po,ako dito bukas ng umaga at dito ko po sa Senado hihintayin ang arresting team [So I will go home,tonight and I will return tomorrow morning here at the Senate where I will wait for the arresting team],” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted her as saying during the press conference.
“Hihintayin ko po sila. Kusa po ako na susuko,sa kanila. Pero sa ngayon po gusto ko na pong makapiling ang aking pamilya sa bahay. Babalik po ako,bukas ng umaga [I will wait for them. I will voluntarily surrender to them. But for now, I would like,to be with my family at home. I will return tomorrow morning],” she added.
Insisting on her innocence, De Lima also stressed,that she will fight the charges head-on.
“Wala po akong balak magtago, haharapin ko po,ang mga kaso na ‘yan [I have no plans of hiding, I will face the cases filed against me],” she said.
De Lima, along with former driver Ronnie Dayan,and former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) OIC Rafael Ragos, were named in the arrest warrant in,connection with the drug raps filed by the Department of Justice.
