Malacañang released their official program for the EDSA People Power 31st commemoration on February 24, 2017 (Friday) which showed that President Rodrigo Duterte is not expected to attend the event.
The preparations for the event was allotted a meager Php 1 million since the Palace is only expecting a very simple affair on Friday that would not interfere with the heavy traffic especially in Metro Manila.
“We decided to do it on Friday because we felt that Saturday, there will be a lot of people celebrating in various formats and different expressions,” said Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship and Vice President of the EDSA People Power Commission Joey Concepcion. February 24, of Friday, is a regular working day.
The high ranking officials expected to attend this Friday’s event is Concepcion, Defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
An awarding ceremony for military, religious, and other exemplary Filipino figures will also be held.
