“Much as I condemn his EJK and related policies, I must–reluctantly– acknowledge President Duterte’s PR skills,” Bello wrote on Facebook.
“The collapse of the peace talks was a big minus for his presidency, but he has turned crisis into opportunity by presenting himself as a suitor who leaned over backward to accommodate the NDF but, despite all this, was spurned,” he said.
“The public is buying it. No mention of the military’s intransigence and its pressure on him to break off the talks. The guy is a master at emotive politics. Never, never underestimate this fellow,” he said.
