Duterte has decided to let Lorenzana to go on shopping spree for the weapons in Russia and China since these two countries are very consistent and willing to provide the Philippines tons of weapons that we need.
In his speech at the Villamor Air Base, even the middle-ranking officers can choose their preferred weapons to purchase, just make sure that they can be of use, he said:
“Go to Russia and China sabi ko, there are countries that offered us so many weapons. Sabi nila mamili ka lang dun,tignan niyo kung ano pinakamabuti”
Meanwhile, Duterte explains why he chose Russia and China over U.S. to prevent any malicious issues that may occur.
“Sabi ko sa kanila I want weaponry and armaments. Hindi ko kailangan ng Jets F-16 that’s of no use to us. We don’t intend to fight any country, pag ginamit now wala rin missile.”Let’s content ourselves with propeller-driven planes which we can use extensively sa anti-insurgency.”
