LOOK: Simply Digong: Duterte rocks ‘Maong Tagalog’ in Laos

For his arrival honors in Laos on Monday night, the Philippine leader wore his now-signature Barong Tagalog and denim pants combo, which his aides affectionately call “Maong Tagalog”.

Duterte, whose tough talk and populist stance catapulted him to the presidency last May, is known for his simplicity and what-you-see-is-what-you-get attitude.

“Digong” flew into Vientiane, Laos aboard a chartered Philippine Airlines flight from Davao City. He is in town for the 28th and 29th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summits.

It’s Duterte’s first foreign trip.
