In a speech that was delivered last Monday in Laos, President Duterte revealed that former President Fidel V. Ramos was his source for the names of the government personalities allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

According to Duterte, Ramos visited him in Davao four times, just to convince him to run for President.

During the first meeting, Ramos told Duterte that it was time that he ran for office so that Mindanao will have its own president.
The second time that Ramos visited Duterte, he showed him a list:

“The second time, he was strongly urging me to run.
During that time, Duterte was hesitant to run because he is afraid he doesn’t have enough funds but he said Ramos was insistent.
“Sabi niya (Ramos): No. If you keep on refusing, this country will go to the dogs.” Pinakita niya, what can you do with this?
Needless to say, Ramos’ visits were successful. Just days after taking office, Duterte already disclosed that five active and retired police generals supposedly have links to the illegal drug trade.
His announcement was followed by a revelation several weeks later that certain politikos, judges and police officials were allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
