Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announce that he set to visit Russia to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 25, 2017.
“Sabi man ng Russia, ‘We have everything you need. Just come here.’ So I’m going there… May 25,” he said.
“Maganda iyong mga Russians. Iyon lang naman ang puntahan mo,” Duterte joked.

Last Nov, 2016, Russian President Putin sent an invitation to Duterte to visit Moscow.
"I welcome the invitation of President Putin to visit Russia," Duterte said.
"I have directed the secretaries of foreign affairs and defense to undertake an advance visit soonest to firm up substantive agenda with Moscow," Duterte said.
President Duterte has sought to forge stronger ties with Russia as he pivots away from the United States.
