Former mutineer turned Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon disclosed during a meeting yesterday that the Bureau of Customs had busted a giant fuel company smuggling billion-worth of fuel into the country.

Commissioner Faeldon was quoted as saying "I caught another big smuggler of fuel, I cannot divulge names yet," Faeldon said during his speech at the American Chamber Philippine's Infrastructure and Logistics Committee Meeting.

The company caught by the BOC agents carrying billion-worth of fuel is considered as one of the biggest fuel companies in the Philippines.

Commissioner Nic Faeldon withhold the identity of the big oil company that committed an alleged billions worth smuggling activities.

The BOC Chief also noted this is the reason why the Bureau of Customs (BoC) is being tagged as the most corrupt government agency in the Philippines.

"If big corporations like Mighty and this fuel company defrauding the government or cheating it, how much more to the small workers of these importers?" Faeldon said.

Commissioner Faeldon added further that "It takes three to tango, you have the brokers, importers and you have the bureau people (to resolve the corruption in Bureau of Customs)," he said. The people of the bureau, Faeldon stressed, are not just the one making the image of BoC corrupt but also the traders.

Faeldon also wondered why not a single complaint has been filed against his men. “There are 11,000 importers and brokers and you know until today, zero has come forward to me and tell me that your agent employee named Juan Dela Cruz is asking money from us. So I wonder why?” Faeldon asked.
