Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa appealed for fair treatment as he cried foul after the media sought to hear the side of alleged kidnap-slay mastermind SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel and his wife.

The PNP chief, who recently celebrated his birthday, accused some reporters of destroying their credibility with the way news are being reported, an article written by AJ Bolando on Philippine Star stated.

“Ang mahirap dito ‘yung ibang media, ‘yung gumagawa ng kasalanan ‘yun pa ang gagawing hero,” Bato was quoted saying.

Meanwhile, Jinky Sta. Isabel, wife of the main suspect in the death of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo, attempted to clear her husband’s name from the kidnapping and murder case by holding a press conference.

The embattled wife presented evidence which include closed circuit television camera footage and recorded phone calls, to prove their innocence; further claiming they are being framed by higher ranking officials of the PNP.

For his part, Dela Rosa said Sta. Isabel’s wife was twisting facts to make them (PNP) look bad.

Dela Rosa said they are the ones who are suffering from Sta. Isabel’s wrongdoings; noting that the PNP deserves justice.

In addition, Dela Rosa poured his frustration and fired tirades by saying: “Ano kasama ba kayo sa plano ‘pag ganun?” [Are you part of the plan?]

As such, the PNP chief appealed to the media to be transparent as he vowed for an honest to goodness investigation.

“Please ‘yung pag-cover n’yo tingnan n’yo nang husto, ‘wag n’yo naman baligtarin na ang masama nagiging mabuti, ang mabuti ang nagiging masama, maging transparent tayo,” he said.

[Please be factual and don’t twist stories that will make the bad appear good, be transparent.]
