In a press conference after arriving to Davao city from Indonesia, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he accepts the apology of TV5 news anchor Ed Lingao who admitted that the breaking news he delivered on September 5, 2016 was “written in error and is not accurate”.

Duterte revealed this when Jeff Caparas a reporter from TV5 asked him if he is angry at them. Confused, Duterte asked the Caparas on who he was referring to.

“Sa amin, sa media sir” Caparas reiterates.
“Sabi ko nga tanggalin nyu na ang escalator palakarin ninyo yan sa likod” Duterte jest.
“Of course I am not at liberty to be angry at anyone, It is your sworn duty to ask questions” Duterte expressed.

“It is also my obligation to the people to [let you know], for [where] the money [is] spent for this trip and for all of the things that would cost the Filipinos, I have to make an official report” Duterte said.
Duterte then explained that he did not insult anybody, he said that he was only complaining about the situation.

“Wala akong galit sa inyo, alam mo, I never, I was here, you where here, I never attribute such statements to anyone. I was complaining about the situation but I never directed any statement that was insulting or otherwise not good” Duterte continue.

“Si Ed Lingao, was the anchor at that time and it was this breaking news, na he apologized and I accept his apology. And he should not worry because sometimes you commit errors, wala akong question dyan, [but] if the other side wants to interpreted it in a way they want it, [then] problema na nila yan” said Duterte.

“I am not a player of the international community, I only answer to the Filipino people” said Duterte.
Ed Lingao issues an apology in a Facebook post calling the supporters of the President to stop harassing his colleagues.
