PH PEACE EFFORTS IBIBIDA SA UN

ROME, Italy – Iniwan muna nitong Sabado ni Presidential Peace Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza ang isinasagawang usapang pangkapayapaan ng pamahalaan at ng mga rebolusyonaryong komunista para dumalo sa dalawang pagtitipon sa United Nations (UN) at upang ibalita ang mga pagsisikap ng Pilipinas na pandayin ang pakikipagkasundo sa National Democratic Front (NDF) at sa Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“I will present to (the UN) the model for the Philippine peace process,” pahayag ni Dureza sa mediamen dito, nang ihayag niya na aalis siya patungong New York nitong Sabado upang dumalo sa dalawang pagpupulong sa pandaigdigang ahensiya hinggil sa pinakamahuhusay na pamamaraan sa pagtatamo ng kapayapaan sa Linggo at Lunes.

Babalik siya ng Rome sa Miyerkules, na matataon sa pagtatapos ng ikatlong yugto ng usapang pangkapayapaan ng Government of the Philippines (GRP) at ng National Democratic Front (NDF) sa the Holiday Inn Rome – Eur Parco dei Medici.

Sinabi ni Dureza na ang ipinahihiwatig ng imbitasyon sa UN forums na ang Pilipinas “(was) already in the radar screen of the world in terms of moving forward with peace.”

Ngayong Linggo, dadalo si Dureza sa Third Symposium ng “The Role of Religion and Faith-based Organizations in International Affairs,” na may temang “Just, Inclusive and Sustainable Peace” sa UN Headquarters.

Kinabukasan, makikibahagi naman siya sa high level dialogue na inorganisa ni UN President of the General Assembly Peter Thompson na may titulong “Building Sustainable Peace for All: Synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustaining Peace,” sa UN pa rin. (ROCKY NAZARENO)
