A 62 year old Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) volunteer Diego Franco writes an open-letter to Leni Robredo after the Vice President lamented before about the slow relief and recovery efforts of DSWD during the typhoon Nina.
Franco said in his open letter that he’s one of the reason why the relief efforts became slow because he’s already 62 years old and not in his prime anymore
He said that he chose to serve his own people rather than go to Tanzania in South Africa.
This is what the open letter says:
I am the problem, Madam Vice President, for the “slow delivery of relief assistance” to the typhoon victims as you claim. I am 62 years old and still doing my best serving the people for free. Rather than go to Tanzania in South Africa as Volunteer, I decided to stay for my own people and be part in the dynamics of CHANGE now sweeping the Philippines. And I am not retiring as a Volunteer. Leaders lead, builders build but volunteers work for free to make things happen and thus MAKE A DIFFERENCE. This will be me in 2017.
His post goes viral on Facebook and many Netizens were touched by his will to serve the people for free despite of his old age.
