Despite the long first State of the Nation Address,of President Rodrigo Duterte, most people have only positive words for him. He had a lot of off, scripts and had been code switching here and there, but these captured the hearts of the masses as,according to them makes the President more relatable and genuine.
He had a lot of hopes for the country as well as,promises in the areas of criminality, poverty, transportation, businesses and even, peace process in Mindanao. But among his many promises, one that caught the attention of youth and, professionals alike, was the promise to provide free Wi-Fi access in selected public areas nationwide. He promptly ordered,to draft a national broadband plan.
He said that this free wi-fi will be provided,in public places such as the parks, plazas, public libraries, government hospitals, schools, airports and even seaports.
He then quipped "Happy lahat" which drew laughter from the audience.
The first attempt to implement this was way, back Arroyo's administration and even had an initial agreement with China's ZTE group. But,as you can recall, this was immediately blasted due to issues of corruption.
