Last September 16, 2017 - Jinggoy Estrada was allowed to
post P1.33 M bail with the plunder case filed against him by the anti-graft
court using former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's acquittal from the similar
case she had faced before due to alleged lack of main plunderer.
After Estrada has been released from his more than three
years of incarceration at PNP Detention Center in Camp Crame; Janet
Lim-Napoles, the alleged pork barrel mastermind and her camp stated that they
will use the same argument to seek granting of bail for her case.
But the government prosecutors are planning to appeal the bail granted for Estrada. According to Atty. Maria Christina Batacan, they do have 'strong grounds' to appeal the Sandiganbayan 5th Division's ruling in favor of Estrada hoping that the decision will be reversed.
On the other hand, there are rumors that Estrada will testify in the outlawed Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) case against former President Benigno "NoyNoy" Aquino III. It can be remembered that under Aquino's administration, Estrada and his colleagues and co-accused former Senators Juan Ponce-Enrile and Ramon "Bong" Revilla were put behind bars following the widely-publicized scandal that involves their pork barrel more than three years ago.
Estrada denied these rumors.
