The People's Republic of China donated worth P100 million cash through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in aid to the government's anti-poverty programs. In a simple turnover ceremony on December 16, Friday at the DSWD Central Office in Batasan, Quezon City, DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo with Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua signed the Memorandum of Agreement.

Ambassador Jianhua said the donation is intended to fund and support the Philippine government's anti poverty programs. Sec. Taguiwalo also expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government for their support. "We know that China is supportive to the programs and projects of President Duterte. We thank you once again," said Taguiwalo.

China has earlier donated P60 million on November 7 to help the affected families of Typhoon Lawin which struck the northern part of Luzon last month. According to Sec. Taguiwalo, the donations will go a long way in serving the people of the Philippines. She also said that serving the people is one of the main concerns of President Rodrigo Duterte.
