The Anti-Gambling Division of Quezon City Police Office missed five people who regularly playing video karera in Maaralin, Diliman, Quezon City on Thursday morning. Police have confiscated five video karera machines, four people including the owner, and cash amounting to 8,567 all in 1 peso coins.

Police asset who was monitoring the area identified chairperson of leftist group BAYAN (Bagong Alyansang Makabayan), as a regular customer who plays almost everyday. The asset who police disclose his identity said, Mr. Reyes allegedly played for about 15 minutes, and after losing more than 1,000 pesos, he left the area 10 minutes before the police arrived.

Police Senior Superintendent Guillermo Cabugao said they are following four people who supplied the machines to the house owner Manuelito Mangahas, but the suspects fled the area 10 minutes before they arrived. Mangahas was arrested together with three players. Cabugao said they did not received any information about Mr. Reyes being a regular video karera player, but noted that he might have been arrested if he was caught doing the illegal gambling.

Renato Reyes is the chairperson and current leader of BAYAN. His wife, a doctor working in government hospital said that her husband has no regular job, but denied making money by organizing rallies. The machines were confiscated near the BAYAN headquarters in Diliman, Quezon City. /Nico Bawa/
