The plan of the New People’s Army(NPA) to wreak havoc on the day of the State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte was foiled.


Thanks to the concern citizens who cooperated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines that led to the discovery of the Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) who allegedly owned by the terrorist group.

On July 21, the 81st and 87th Infantry Battalion conducted a strike operation in Basey, Samar after they received some reports that IEDs were stored by the members of the NPA in the place.


The military recovered 19 improvised explosive device during the operation.

According to the intel that they received, the bombs were planned to use against the government forces in Samar on July 24, during President Rodrigo Duterte’s SONA speech.

They also said that the bombs were intended to be use during President Rodrigo Duterte’s SONA to grab the attention of the public and cause alarm to the citizens.

Armed Forces of the Philippines were grateful that the local community of Basey helped them to prevent another terrorism act of the New People’s Army which conducted several ambushes that killed many government personnel last week.

The Communist Party of the Philippines expressed their disappointment after President Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao and even extended it for another 150 days.

In response of the martial law extension declared by President Duterte, the communists ordered their men to launch attacks against the government.

President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he would end the peace talks between the government and the communists.

“Revolutionary forces nationwide are firmly united and ever determined to resist martial law in Mindanao. The New People’s Army must continue to strengthen itself nationwide by carrying out armed counteractions and offensives across the country to defeat the Mindanao martial law and nationwide all-out war,” CPP said in their statement.
