And it was Sr. Baay who brought it up to the papal Nuncio. And somehow along the way, a struggling newsweekly Newsbreak edited by Marites Danguilan Vitug broke the story. Bam! The lid flew out of Pandora’s Box. And now the whole country is gorging on the scandal.<br /> "The moral of the story? I have always believed priestly celibacy just doesn’t hold water or logic. Men are men. And if they succumb to temptation, it’s not because they are bad. It’s just that the imposition of celibacy is like telling a river not to overflow, an avalanche not to cascade, a storm to silence its headwinds. In my time, I too have heard horror stories about "misbehaving" priests. There was the story of a seminarian who bolted the seminary. He recounted that often during the deep night, he was jolted awake because quite a number of his fellow seminarians were "mating" or involved in sex. A homosexual himself, he sought to enter the priesthood to "cleanse" his sins, indeed to carry out the priestly bow of lifetime celibacy. Horrified, he left.<br /> "It’s sad. The Church is the last of our moral bastions.<br /> "Whenever the political clouds gathered over our country, we always sought refuge in the Church. It was unflinching for God and nation, for mounting the pulpit and castigating those that had sinned, and sending the world of the Lord to palpitate in every home. Duterte, the brazen attempt at curbing freedom of speech on your social media platform, by his political detractors.<br />As you may well know by now, President Duterte's win in the Presidential election held last May 2016 was largely through the excellent social media strategy executed by his social media operatives. It was able to galvanize and harness the support of Filipinos in the Philippines and abroad, in making his platform of government known to potential and actual supporters which resulted in his coming out ahead of four other rivals for the post.<br /><br />His detractors are composed mainly of the liberal intelligentsia elite in the Philippines coming from civil society and the Liberal Party. The Liberal Party was founded and controlled by the late father's of former President Benigno C. Aquino III and defeated Presidential candidate Manuel A. Roxas II.<br />Despite President Duterte's call for unity after his win at the polls, these detractors continue in their attempts to bring down his duly elected government. The efforts are being spearheaded in the United States by Loida Nicolas-Lewis, widow of Reginald Lewis of Beatrice TLC fame who is a staunch supporter of the Liberal Party.<br />It is for these reasons that there is a raging battle on Facebook for the hearts and minds of our fellow Filipinos as we struggle with the biased news coverage by local and foreign traditional media of President Duterte.<br />Presently, pro-Duterte Facebook pages and accounts are being mass reported by social media operatives identified with the Liberal Party for violations of your community standards. One page with over two million followers, Senyora Santibañez, has been taken down after being reported.<br />It is ironic and a first that the Opposition is exerting concerted efforts to silence the proponents of the Administration's media. They who hype up the fears of martial rule are the ones seeking to restrict free speech and silence dissension.<br />I hope that you will find merit in this appeal and understand how Facebook has become a powerful tool in our fight for a clean and honest government. Iniiwasan ang pagbabago dahil makakasira ito sa oligarkiya? Sa monopolyo? Iniiwasan ang pagbabago dahil maglalaho sa kanila ang kapangyarihan? Huwag na tayong maglokohan, isang halimbawa ang nakaraang rehimeng Aquino na nakipagsabwatan sa mga indibidwal o samahang nabulag marahil sa mga pangako ng pagpapalawig ng kapangyarihan, kayamanan at ng kasalukuyan kaayusan sa lipunan. O baka naman ang pagsasanib ay upang mapangalagaan ang interes ng mga samahang ito? Huwag na tayong magmalinis at sabihing ang pagsanib at labis na pagsuporta kay Aquino ay hindi dahil sa nahigop na kapangyarihan at kayamanan. Bistado na ang makasariling layunin ng mga taong ito.<br /> <br /> <div style="text-align: center;"> <br /> <!-- adsense --></div> <div style="text-align: left;"> Kaya ngayong nagbago ang pamahalaan patungo sa isang tunay, malawak at pangkalahatang pagbabago, pilit nilang nilalabanan, binabatikos sa lahat ng bagay, lahat ay masama at mali dahil ang bastos na Duterte ang nakaupo sa Malacanan. Bago man lamang natin isiwalat sa buong mundo na anim na libo na ang napapatay ni Duterte, siguraduhin nating totoo ang ating bilang. At tulad ng nasabi ko na dati, di lamang sa pamahalang ito suliranin ang EJKs, at huwag nating sabihing kakaiba ang EJKs noong panahong Aquino dahil hindi nya ito kinunsinti. Walang ginawa si Aquino sa mga patayan, riding-in-tandem, pagpatay sa mga mamamahayag, pagpatay sa mga sundalo sa Mamasapano, pagpatay sa mga magsasaka sa Hacienda Luisita at marami pang iba. Hindi pa ba ito pagkunsinti? O magbubulag-bulagan nanaman tayo?<br /> <br /> Ang kasalukuyang digmaan laban sa droga ay nagmulat sa atin sa mga bagay na hindi man natin inasahan maging sa ating mailap na panaginip. Ang sukdulang dami ng mga taong sangkot sa droga ay lubhang nakakagulat. At dahil sa walang humpay na pagsupil sa mga kriminal, sila-silang mga drug lords, users at mga pulis na sangkot sa droga ang nagpapatayan. Ganyan ang digmaan sa droga. Ang mga pulis na pumapatay, gagawin nila yun hindi dahil sinabihan sila ng Pangulo na pumatay sila kung manlaban. Manlaban man o hindi, papatay ang mga yan sapagkat lahat sila ay sangkot sa droga at ang bawat isa ay umiiwas na isuplong ng kabila. Kaya upang matahimik ang mga posibleng saksi, patayin na lamang. Kung gayon, kasalanan ba ito ng Pangulo? Tandaan natin na ang layunin ng isang pinuno ay pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng taong-bayan at ng higit na nakararami at panatiliin ang kapayapaan sa lipunan. Hindi suportado ng Pangulo ang patayan, suportado ng Pangulo ang digmaan sa droga. Kung mayroong mga napapatay sa digmaang ito, hindi ito pagkunsinti.<br /> <br /> Samantala, nanaig daw ang demokrasya sa ilalim ni Aquino subalit kay Duterte, Batas Militar ang mamamayagpag. Totoo bang hindi maaaring ipagsama ang demokrasya at batas militar? Pakiusap lang, sumangguni muli sa ating Saligang Batas, at doo’y matutunghayan natin na ang Batas Militar na kinatatakutan ninyo ay bahagi ng isang demokrasya. Ito ay isang kapangyarihang ipinagkakaloob ng Saligang Batas sa Pangulo upang mailigtas ang bansa sa anumang napipintong kapahamakan sa lalong madaling panahon. Nagkataon nga lamang na ito’y inabuso ni Marcos para sa pansariling kapakanan. Subalit kahit ulit-ulitin man ni Duterte ang bantang Batas Militar, kung ito ay ipapatupad nang dahil sa lehitimong kadahilanan, wala tayong dapat ipangamba, hindi tayo dapat magpabihag sa takot na ito’y aabusuhin.<br /> <br /> Nakakatuwa ring isipin ang mga paratang na ang pamahalaan ni Duterte ay may mga bayarang “trolls,” na syang naninira sa mga disenteng tao, na ang pagbansag sa mga magkatunggali bilang disente at bastos ay kagagawan ng mga “trolls” ni Pangulo. Pati mga pekeng balita ay sa mga taga-suporta ng Pangulo ibinibintang. Nananaginip ba ang mga taong ito? At ang “mainstream media,” di ba sila ang nagkakalat ng kasinungalingan at pekeng balita? Huwag nating baligtarin ang katotohanan. At kami pa talaga ang mga trolls? Bwahaha! Lahat nga ng mga nagpapahayag ng suporta kay Pangulo ay nagpapakilala sa sosyal media, hindi nagkukubli ng tunay na pagkatao. Samantala, karamihan ng mga kritiko ni Duterte ay nagtatago sa ilalim ng mga alyas.<br /> <br /> Ang walang-humpay na paghahanap ng paraan upang mapatalsik ang Pangulo at ang pagtatago ng layuning ito sa likod ng pagiging kritiko at oposisyon ay sadyang katawa-tawa. Maging ang mga panggulong tulad ni Loida Nicolas-Lewis ay nanghihimasok sa kaganapang lokal. Ang mga tulad ni Loida na nagtatawag ng pagbibitiw ng Pangulo sa kadahilanang walang kakayahan o integridad na mamuno ay tila nahihibang nanaman. Si Duterte walang kakayahan at integridad na mamuno? Ano ito, lokohan? Kung may isa o dalawang tao na walang kakayahan at integridad na mamuno, iyon ay walang iba kundi si AQUINO at ROXAS!!! Pinagtiisan na nga ng taong-bayan ang anim na taon sa pamumuno ng isang inutil, ngayon namang nakahalal na ang bayan ng isang tunay na lider, babatikusin naman na wala itong kakayahan at integridad. Ang madilim na hangarin ni Loida at ng kanyang mga kawatan ay walang iba kundi sedisyon na maituturing. Naaayon ba kamo sa isang demokrasyang lipunan and paghimok sa isang lider na magbitiw? Marahil, kung may tunay na dahilan at hindi imbento at kathang-isip lamang. Subalit sa pagkakataong ito, nagsisimula pa lamang ang Pangulo nais nyo nang magbitiw o pabagsakin? Sukdulan na talaga ang galit ninyo sa kanya at hinding-hindi ninyo matanggap na siya ang Pangulo, at hindi si Mar at hindi rin magiging si Leni.<br /> <br /> Isa pang sensitibong isyu ang respeto sa kababaihan. Si Digong pararatangan ng kawalan ng respeto sa kababaihan? Isang hahahaha ulit! Sus, maghunus-dili kayo sa mga sinasabi ninyo. Bakit di ninyo tanungin ang mga kababaihan sa Davao? Sila ang makapagpapatunay kung gaano nirerespeto at pinangangahalagahan ni Duterte ang kababaihan. Isa-isahin ninyo ang mga programa niyang para sa kababaihan sa Davao at kung paano natulungan ang mga ito. Alamin nyo rin kung ano na ang mga programang nilagdaan na ni Duterte sa kasalukuyang panunungkulan na ang makikinabang ay mga kababaihan, tulad na lang ng lubusang pagpapatupad ng RH Law. O baka naman sadyang nagbubulag-bulagan nanaman kayo sa katotohanang nakatitig na mismo sa inyong mga mata?<br /> <br /> Sa isyu naman ni De LIEma at ng Pangalawang Pangulo, para sa iba’y #LabanLeila at #LabanLeni, muli itong pinalalabas ng mga huwad na oposisyon bilang pambabastos sa kababaihan. Baka nakakalimutan natin, si De LIEma ang sangkot sa isyu ng droga, sa kanyang panunungkulan lumawak ang suliranin sa droga, siya ang tumanggap ng pera mula sa mga drug lords sa bilibid, siya ang nakisipin sa kanyang driver na may asawa na kanyang ginamit bilang konduwit sa paglikom ng pera mula sa mga drug lords. Oo, walang kinalaman ang relasyon ni De LIEma sa kanyang driver sa kanyang panunungkulan bilang Kalihim ng Hustisya, subalit kung ginamit nya ang relasyong ito sa isang iligal na gawain, ibang usapan na yan at mayroong karapatan ang sambayanang usisain ang bawat detalye nito. Kung ayaw ng personalan, huwag gumawa ng kalokohan kasabwat ang mga karelasyon. Si Pangalawang Pangulo naman, ano ang pambabastos sa kanya? Yung pagpuna ni Pangulo sa kanyang tuhod? Sadyang kay babaw naman natin kung yun lamang ang dahilan. Kung tutuusin, siya ang nambastos sa Pangulo sa pamamagitan ng harapang pagkontra dito sa publiko. Walang nagbabawal na kumontra sya sa Pangulo, subalit kabahagi sya ng Gabinete, respeto lang na kung hindi mo man gusto ang pamamalakad ng Pangulo, manahimik na lamang, at hindi yung makikipagsigawan kasama ang huwad na oposisyon upang hilingin ang pagbibitiw ng Pangulo.<br /> <br /> At sino naman ang nagsabing ang Pangulo ang dapat sisihin sa pagbabalik ng mga Marcoses at ni GMA? Binoto ng bayan si Imelda sa Leyte, si Imee sa Ilocos at si Bongbong sa Senado hindi pa man Pangulo si Digong. At marami rin ang bumoto kay Bongbong sa pagka-Pangalawang Pangulo, baka siya pa nga ang tunay na nagwagi sa posisyong ‘yan. Kung di ka naman sang-ayon, e di magalit ka sa milyun-milyong Pilipino na bumoto sa kanila subalit huwag mong sisihin at idamay si Digong.<br /> <br /> Sa mga isyung tulad nito, hindi namin hahayaang linlangin ang sambayanan kaya ganoon na lamang ang aming pagdepensa sa Pangulo, pagdepensa laban sa mga di makatotohanang paratang. Sa pagdami ng mga kasinungalingan mula sa mga nagpapanggap na kritiko, wala kaming magagawa kundi ihayag ang katotohanan. Para sa nagpapanggap na oposisyon ngayon, hindi sila maituturing na kritiko, nais lamang nilang magkubli sa likod ng pagiging kritiko upang bigyan ng lehitimong dahilan ang kanilang mga pagpuna at pagbatikos sa Pangulo.<br /> <br /> Mga pangako noong kampanya, naglalaho bang isa-isa? Kung sa tingin ng mga kritiko ay naglalahong isa-isa ang mga ipinangako ni Duterte, mag-isip-isip silang muli at buksan ang mga mata. Kung iisa-isahin ko ngayon lahat ng mga naisakatuparang pangako, hindi tayo matatapos sapagkat napakahirap paniwalain ang mga nagbubulag-bulagan. Ang endo, trapiko at droga, mga suliranin ng lipunan sa mahabang panahon na, tingin mo ba kayang solusyonan sa loob ng anim na buwan lamang? Diyos ko naman, maging makatotohanan naman tayo. Ang sabihin natin, kahit ano pang kabutihan ang gawin ng pamunuang ito, hindi yan kikilalanin ng mga kritiko, magbubulag-bulagan sila at sa halip, pawang mga pagkakamali lamang ang palalakihing isyu. Ganyan ba ang tunay na kritiko at oposisyon? O tama ang sabihin kong huwad na oposisyon?<br /> <br /> Lahat tayo ay nagnanais ng pagbabago. Dumating ang panahon kung kalian nagising ang taumbayan sa katotohanan at nagpasyang lumaban sa mga bagay na sumisira sa ating lipunan. Si Duterte ang tanging may pagnanasang pulitikal, siya ang magdadala ng pagbabagong hinahangad natin. Ngayong siya na ang Pangulo, walang pasismong naghahari, walang diktador, walang mamamatay-tao, walang war on the poor, walang pambabastos sa kababaihan, hindi rin tamang sabihin na walang prosesong sapat, walang patayang kinukunsinti ng estado at walang bayarang trolls si Digong.
