Social media personality and Mindanation writer, Rocky Gonzales, discussed the prolific Yellow figures that bannered the People Power and who are now gradually uncovered as greedy and corrupt.<br />

Among the figures given were Ninoy Aquino, Cory Aquino, Noynoy Aquino, and Bambam Aquino who are held as the biggest Yellow figures and Aquino clans people who “claimed the prize for the struggle that the multitudes risked and lost lives for. They stood over the ordinary Filipino’s shoulders and stole a spot in history.'<br />

Gonzales emphasized that on EDSA's 31st anniversary, “we will once again come together as a nation, one with our brothers and sisters in the far reaches of the globe, the Filipino diaspora,” one that knows its true purpose and true heroes.<br />

The Aquinos rose to stratospheric fame from the People Power Movement of 1986. They claimed the prize for the struggle that the multitudes risked and lost lives for. They stood over the ordinary Filipino’s shoulders and stole a spot in history.<br />
<br />
Ninoy Aquino was a man driven to his death by his insatiable greed for power. He bartered away our claims to parcels of our ancestral lands to rally support against Marcos (http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2013/03/13/918984/ninoy-vowed-drop-sabah-claim-get-kl-support-vs-marcos?nomobile=1). He would see the Philippines fractured, falter and fail in his quest for power. Even when Marcos showed him clemency after being sentenced to death by the courts, he would not stop. He came back to the Philippines not as a hero but a man feverishly lost in his desire for greatness. Only death gave him the peace which eluded him in life.<br />

Cory Aquino is the weeping widow and would-be saint of EDSA. With her hands, she fashioned a government that reinvigorated the oligarchy and bled the masses. From restoring to her yellow coterie the properties legally procured by the Marcoses for the Philippines (http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/95241/news/nation/letters-prove-marcos-didn-t-sequester-meralco-from-lopezes) to the blood bath that is the Mendiola Massacre (http://bulatlat.com/main/2014/01/20/blood-rush-over-bloodbaths-still-killing-and-dying-for-hacienda-luisita/), she gave the scars that serve as a permanent reminder of the failure of EDSA. What delusions then would make anyone hail her as a hero of democracy let alone its saint.<br />

Noynoy Aquino has the unique distinction of surpassing his parents infamy. Through him, their dark legacy was finally brought to light. He has made himself out as the antithesis of his father’s aggression and the next step in evolution of his mother’s incompetence and passivity. His regime started with the Manila hostage tragedy which saw the deaths of several Hongkong nationals and our diplomatic relations with China. This he took to cataclysmic heights by refusing to resolve the South China Sea dispute through diplomatic channels with qualified personnel. He used backdoor dealings with devious and self-serving personalities with vested political and economic interests-Trillanes and Pangilinan. Then he pushed this strained conversation even further by filing a unilateral case against China (https://thegreedbank.wordpress.com/about/).<br />

He has set the stage for a war that we could not hope to survive. Internally, his dearth of personal intimacies saw him sire narco trade and politics, the collapse of the MRT, the spate of institutionalized criminality like the “Tanim-bala”, Riding-in-Tandem, DAP and PDAF scams, License Cards and Plate fiascos, and the SAF44, Al-Barka and #BigasHindiBala massacres. These highlighted his apathy to the plight of the poor as well as his willingness to overlook and even support his errant friends in key government positions to the detriment of the country.<br />

Bambam Aquino has decided to champion causes like the censorship of social media in collusion with a blogsite which has duped the SEC and the public (http://www.thinkingpinoy.net/2017/02/spo4-pia-ranadas-rappler-constitution-failing-bankrupt.html?m=1) along with further dehumanizing the poor through a bill that will force food establishments to give them scraps and leftovers. He walks the same dark alley with his progenitors-a path that would see our nation on its broken, bloodied and calloused knees begging from its oligarchy and other foreign states.Throughout the grim narrative of what the Aquino family has contributed to our nation’s past, the Filipinos have remained vigilant in its struggle, in its desire for democracy. What happened in EDSA was the unity of purpose and passion of the country which was stolen by one family.<br />

On the 31st anniversary of the People Power Movement, we will once again come together as a nation, one with our brothers and sisters in the far reaches of the globe, the Filipino diaspora. We will reclaim what was stolen from us in EDSA and begin anew in Luneta at the Quirino Grandstand. We will celebrate our victory in the last May elections, a triumph that has returned democracy and the true meaning of service back to the people.<br />

The preparations for the event was allotted a meager Php 1 million since the Palace is only expecting a very simple affair on Friday that would not interfere with the heavy traffic especially in Metro Manila.<br />
<br />
“We decided to do it on Friday because we felt that Saturday, there will be a lot of people celebrating in various formats and different expressions,” said Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship and Vice President of the EDSA People Power Commission Joey Concepcion. February 24, of Friday, is a regular working day.<br />

The high ranking officials expected to attend this Friday’s event is Concepcion, Defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.<br />

According to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the event was to show our support to the campaign of Duterte’s admin against illegal drugs and corruption.<br />
<br />
DILG Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing, in a press conference, he said “ Although may EDSA Day celebration, hindi natin fino-focus ang atensyon naming dun. Fino-focus natin ang atensyon sa ating pagsuporta sa ating Pangulo sa kanyang pananaw na kailangang matigil na ang iligal na droga at kailangang matigil na ang korapsyon at malabanan ang kahirapan sa ating bayan,” he said.<br />
<br />
“There will be a vigil, prayers and concert,” he added.<br />
<br />
“kaya natin ginagawa yun sa 25th dahil mayroon tayong mga kasama na nanggaling pa ho sa Visayas at Mindanao. Pupunta lang po sa Luneta para makiisa sa atin.”<br />
<br />
He also cited that supporters from Pampanga, Bulacan, Maynila, Makati, Pasay, Paranaque and other areas will also join.<br />

Mark Lopez emphasized that “EDSA people power is DEAD!” with its spirit turning out into “a sham, a power grab wherein those who participated were fooled, misled and used.”<br />
<br />
Lopez’s article explained how the celebration of the EDSA anniversary only brings to light how the Yellows “are so determined and so powerful”, and “worse of all, they [Yellows] are desperate” to bring their power back.<br />
<br />
Supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte were encouraged to “simply go about” their daily routine on February 25, and even consider calling off the protest altogether as it only entails political agenda being set.<br />

But let's leave it to the historians and political science experts to dissect EDSA 86 and label it accordingly.<br />

"The gathering at EDSA on the 25th will be the culmination of the many attempts, poorly executed and played, to discredit and destabilize a very very popular and highly responsive but young and fragile administration.<br />

"Most of us have observed and seen how these insidious people have been blatantly propagandizing and manipulating the news, as well as sowing discord amongst us. The politicking and the scheming is so intense and so insistent to the point that even the international community has become a battleground.<br />

"My fellowmen, the plot is real. And so is the threat of violence, of harm and endangerment of our people.<br />
<br />
"These vultures are so determined and so powerful and they cannot be taken for granted. Worse of all, they are desperate. Which all the more should give us pause and reflect deeply.<br />
With this, I am making a personal appeal to all those who support the Duterte Administration.<br />

"We should acknowledge the historical distortion that EDSA is a yellow narrative. Reason why it is a betrayal. So let us take the high road and allow them to gather on the 25th.<br />
<br />
"Let us let them be. And let us all watch how EDSA 86 die a natural death. It is a more powerful message than a 100M hashtag PR campaign can conjure.<br />
<br />
"There is no compelling reason for the Filipino people to celebrate on the 25th of February. If at all, what we need on that day is to simply go about our daily routine, and play deadma (maybe even post #DeadmaSaEdsa as our protest slant)<br />
<br />
"I appeal to the pro active and zealous supporters of our president, to consider calling off the Quirino Grandstand rally. Please consider cancelling this "show of force."<br />
<br />
"We don't need it at this time. There is no doubt that we have the numbers, whether here or abroad. Pardon my use of the term -- but let us not hijack the 25th from the yellows. Let them be, and let's ignore them and their pathetic plan.<br />
<br />
"Earlier, I said that the other side are desperate. Which all the more convinces me that having our own gathering is a bad, bad idea. It will only enable them to devise dirtier strategies, which may lead to physical harm and fragment the real majority.<br />
<br />
"Having a counter rally on the same day is what idiots like Trillanes pray and live for to happen. A massive gathering at Quirino is a destabilizer's dream. They will use it either to spin for their advantage, or infiltrate it to create chaos. It will only take one determined infiltrator to ruin it.<br />
<br />
"And the consequences will be most dire. If trouble or tragedy erupt on the 25th, whether at EDSA or at Quirino, it will set back our country once again. We will be hard put to move forward.<br />
<br />
"On the other hand, if we all stay home or play deadma, then whatever happens at EDSA will just bear the imprint of the yellows. If all of us who support Duterte will agree to give in and stay out of the way, then no one can pin the blame or point to us.<br />
<br />
"Again, that is more compelling.<br />
<br />
"I know there are a lot of those who support the president who are so geared and so agitated in wanting a show of force. To you I say that this is exactly what the yellows want, and exactly why they are bombarding us with disinformation and black propaganda. They want us to be restless, and hateful and angry, and they are luring us into this showdown. They badly want this for them to carry out their devious plot.<br />
<br />
"Let me reiterate. We don't have anything to celebrate or to prove something on February 25.<br />
<br />
"Let us rein our passion and temper our emotion.<br />
<br />
"We don't need a show of force. We are the force. We are the force of change who fully support our duly elected president, and will never hesitate to show it at the most appropriate or opportune time.<br />
<br />
"Right now, the most powerful message of support is to ignore EDSA and see how it dissolves into a historical aberration.<br />
And what better way to show it than play Deadma sa EDSA."<br />
